Nothing says autumn quite like a handmade wreath on the front door. This little project uses a handful of mini crochet pumpkins and some soft greenery, and it comes together in an afternoon.

The pumpkins add a cozy handmade touch, while the leaves and ribbon keep the look light and seasonal. Go classic with orange, or mix in creams and muted greens for a softer style.
The best part? The pumpkins are quick and beginner-friendly, so this is a great first decor project if you have just learned the basics.
Start With the Mini Pumpkin Pattern
Every pumpkin on this wreath is made from our Mini Pumpkin Pattern, which was written with new crocheters in mind.
The pattern comes in several sizes, but for a wreath the smallest size works best. Make as many as you need to fill the frame.

Little pumpkins are the perfect next step after your first practice swatches: you repeat the same stitches, but you end up with something you can actually display.
Once you feel comfortable with the basic stitches, come back and start your pumpkin collection!
Picking Colours for Your Wreath
This is the fun part, where the wreath becomes yours.
Try mixing warm rust, cream, caramel and sage for a pumpkin patch feel, or keep everything neutral with whites and oatmeal tones.
Using yarns from the same weight and fibre family keeps the pumpkins a similar size, so the finished wreath looks balanced.

Supplies for the Pumpkin Wreath
You will need your finished mini pumpkins, a wreath base, some floral wire and a bow.
A greenery wreath works nicely, but a simple grapevine base is just as pretty. Use whatever you already have at home.

How to Attach the Pumpkins
Before attaching anything, lay the pumpkins on the wreath and play with the layout until you like it.
Slide a piece of floral wire through the base of each pumpkin, place it on the wreath, then twist the wire around the frame until it feels secure.
More Ways to Use Your Pumpkins
Why stop at one wreath?
Group a few pumpkins on a tray, line them up on a shelf, or string them together into a simple garland for your mantel.
